Canadian Society for Jewish Studies
The Canadian Society for Jewish Studies (CSJS) will provide a venue for the presentation of Jewish studies research primarily among faculty members, graduate students, and independent scholars both living in and outside Canada. *One does not need to reside in Canada in order to be a member of the Society.
The CSJS holds an annual conference to be held simultaneously with the annual conference of the Association for Canadian Jewish Studies(ACJS). Each year a programme committee appointed by the Society's executive will send out a call for papers, evaluate the submissions and notify applicants of its decisions. All presenters must be a member in good standing of the Society.
The CSJS has an establsihed Executive that will govern and guide the direction of the society. The executive committe is comprised of: a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and five members at large to beelected for a one year term at the annual meeting. The executive will appoint the programme committee, determine the amount of dues, and decide on other CSJS matters.
Members of the executive committee have the following duties:
(a) The president will conduct the day to day operations of the Society and will be responsible
for initiating discussion, by email or other means, of issues which arise and require the
attention of the executive.
(b) The vice-president will succeed the president in case of resignation from office and will
serve in lieu of the president in case of illness orother absence.
(c) The treasurer will keep the society's financial and membership records.
(d) The secretary will record and have charge of the minutes of each meeting.

Annual General Meeting, May 15, 2018
The meeting convened at 9:00 AM in SB-407, Concordia University
Present:
Ira Robinson, Daniel Maoz, Simcha Fishbane, Marty Lockshin, Carrie Bettel, Laura Wiseman.
1. Agenda Approved: Fishbane/Maoz
2. Minutes of 2017 AGM approved: Fishbane/Robinson
3. Business Arising: The next CSJS conference was discussed. The consensus of the meeting was that CSJS should
join ACJS which will be present at the Congress of Social Sciences and Humanities in Vancouver, BC.
4. Reports: Robinson reported on the finances of the CSJS. Funds available in the CSJS chequing account as of April
30, 2018 total $3604.68, up from $3105.98 as of April 28, 2017. This does not include a donation of $1,000.00
from an anonymous donor received by the Concordia University Institute for Canadian Jewish Studies for CSJS
and designated for graduate student subsidies. Maoz reported on the 2018 program and also on the progress of the
volume of CSJS presentations shortly to be published.
5. Elections: The following were elected unanimously on a motion by Lockshin, seconded by Fishbane:

3. Affaires découlant: La prochaine conférence du CSJS a été discutée. Le consensus de la réunion était que le CSJS
devrait Joignez-vous à ACJS, qui sera présent au Congrès des sciences sociales et humaines de Vancouver, en
Colombie-Britannique.
4. Rapports: Robinson a présenté un rapport sur les finances du CSJS. Fonds disponibles dans le compte-chèques de la
SCSJ à compter d'avril 30 2018 total $ 3604,68, en hausse de 3105,98 $ au 28 avril 2017. Cela ne comprend pas un
don de 1 000,00 $ d'un donateur anonyme reçu à l'Institut d'études juives canadiennes pour CSJS de l'Université
